Born Nov. 17, 1912, at Bernie, daughter of the late John Neal and Elizabeth Robinson Murphy, she had previously lived at Essex and Bernie. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter where she was a choir member and a Ladies Aid Society member.
On Oct. 3, 1934, at Poplar Bluff, she married Alfred Summers who preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1995.
Also preceding her in death were: three brothers, Ruben Murphy, Pete Murphy and Howard Murphy; and two sisters, Doris Brown and Mary Reeda Palmer.
Survivors include: one son, Norman Dewayne Summers of Rector, Ark.; two daughters, Shirley Gantner of Dexter and Carolyn Parker of Jackson; one brother, J.W. Murphy of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Dorothy Kinkade of Moberly; and four grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 until 8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
