DEXTER -- A 50th wedding anniversary celebration in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tate will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 29 in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church, 201 S. Locust, in Dexter. Tate and the former Shirley McNew were married March 30, 1958, in Hernando, Miss.

The couple have spent the majority of their lives in the Dexter area. A native of Vandalia, Tate worked over 30 years locally in the insurance industry. Mrs. Tate, originally from Morehouse, spent her time caring for the home and helping to raise their three children. Family and friends of the couple are invited to attend the celebration which will include cake and punch. The couple request there be no gifts.
