EAST PRAIRIE -- Lorene Furlong Watie, 74, died at 2:35 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008, at her home.
Born Oct. 1, 1934 in Cardwell, to the late Albert Monroe and Eula Miner Furlong, she had lived most of her life in St. Louis where she was a retired loan officer for the Lutheran Synod. In 1997 she moved to Arkansas, where she lived until moving to East Prairie in 2007. She was a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie.
Survivors include: one son, Steven Albert Watie of Jefferson City; one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Steve Jones of Natural Dam, Ark.; two sisters, Alberta Davis of East Prairie and Mavis Almon of Charleston; and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Two brothers, Billy Furlong and Dalton Furlong; and two sisters, Carolyn Furlong and Marcella Holmes preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday. Mike Worrell will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Larry Thresher, David Lingle, Chuck Davis, Jeff Davis, Wayne Davis and Dwight Scruggs.
