CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Eugene N. Cunningham, 77, died Jan. 25, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 25, 1928, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Roy H. and Emily Kage Cunningham, he attended high school in Blytheville, Ark. He owned and operated High View Park near Jackson from 1949 -1974, was a substitute mail carrier for the Jackson Post Office and worked for the former Landgraf Construction Co. He worked part-time for Sears in Cape Girardeau for 15 years, retiring from Cape County Transit in 1998. He also had a private pilot's license and was a former member of Southeast Missouri Modeler Association. On Feb. 19, 1953, he was inducted into the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged as an airman-first class on Jan. 8, 1957.

On Nov. 19, 1948, in Harrisburg, Ark., he married LaVerne Pace who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Johnny Kestner of Sikeston; one grandson and his wife, Shawn and Jennifer Seabaugh of Sikeston; and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, where services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Richard Combs officiating.

Burial with graveside military honors will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
