STAFFORD, Va. - Alma Peyton, 89, formerly of Charleston, Mo., died at 7:20 a.m. Dec. 24, 2005, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born May 5, 1916, in Charleston, daughter of the late Frank and Lyde Dunlap Stone, she had moved to Stafford and lived there the past several years after retiring from Brown Shoe in Charleston. She was a member of the Charleston First Baptist Church.
On April 17, 1943, at Hollywood, Calif., she married Mack W. "Buddy" Peyton who preceded her in death on March 21, 1979.
One son, Lloyd Peyton; and two brothers, Jesse Stone and Col. Herbert Marshall Stone, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Michael Forbey of Stafford; two sisters-in-law, Montell Stone of Charleston and Sally Gentry of Bertrand, Mo.; and two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, Mo. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Charleston with Keith Huffman officiating.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
