SIKESTON - Miss Margaret Gray Anthony, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W.A. Anthony, was honored this week by election to membership in Pi Lambda Theta, national educational fraternity of Missouri in Columbia, where she is a senior.
VANDUSER - The Vanduser Extension Club held its meeting Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the community building. Fifteen members were present and two visitors enjoyed the party and the revealing of secret pals for the year. Games were played and gifts exchanged. Refreshments of cookies, coffee and hot chocolate were served.
SIKESTON - Members of the Delta Area Blind gave Christmas stockings filled with a rose, candy and other items to 11 blind residents of the Sikeston Convalescent Center on Friday. The DAB will also give stockings to three residents of Shuffit's Nursing Home and six stockings at Sells Rest Home. Attending Friday's presentation were Cordie Griffin, Nell McReynolds, Mary Brown, Beulah Shell, Lillian Ingram, Vivian Springs, Melinda Johnson, Loreda Compass and Liesa Wasson.

SIKESTON - The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop E reported no major accidents and no fatalities during the holiday travel period. The satellite station at Sikeston reported 19 accidents with 15 injuries and 11 arrests were made for driving while intoxicated.
NEW MADRID - The New Madrid County Health Department has said goodbye to crowded offices and bumped elbows. The new 8,000 square-foot facility is a welcome change from the three-story mansion which previously housed the department.
