THAYER - Ray Orvis Cathey, 89, died Oct. 23, 2005, at the Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.
Born June 17, 1916, in Sharp County, Ark., son of the late John and Etta Young Cathy, he was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was awarded the Silver Star for his involvement in the Battle of Luzon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Juanita Aaron Cathey; one son, Charles Cathey; and one sister, Eunice Dills.
Survivors include: one son, John Cathey of West Plains; five daughters, Nancy Riley of Bloomfield, Carolyn Ann Witt of Dexter, Linda White of Thayer, Dorothy Sue Miller of West Plains and Kari Beeson of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; one sister, Ruby Humphrey of Mammoth Spring; two brothers, Doyle Cathey of Cape Girardeau and Floyd Cathey of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 3 p.m. today in the Clary Funeral Chapel at Mammoth Spring, with Bruce Stone officiating.
Burial will be at a later date under the direction of Clary Funeral Home.
