SIKESTON - The Sikeston Bulldogs soccer team entertained the Kennett Indians on Wednesday and came away with a 9-1 victory.
Blake Taylor led the Bulldogs with four goals. In five games, Taylor has scored 10 goals.
Chris Carnell chipped in two goals while Andrew Box, Timmy Hart and Clay Matthews each scoring a goal for the Bulldogs.
Trey Stone assisted on three goals while Ryan Beaird, Adam Gillean, Hart, Matthews and Dakota Trevino each tallied an assist for Sikeston.
The Bulldogs rallied off nine unanswered goals after the Indians scored first on a goal by Westerfield at 3:00. The goal was unassisted.
"We played well today," said Sikeston coach Derrick Long, "Took awhile to get going but once we did, we controlled the game."
Coach Long was impressed by the defensive play of Andrew Box.
"Andrew played good defense on Kennett's best offensive player and once he was stopped, so was Kennett's offense," said Long.
In goal, Scott Droddy made five saves to record the win.
Sikeston's junior varsity also won against Kennett by a score of 4-2. Caleb Davidson had two goals and an assist, Michael Ragsdell and Brandon Sauceda each registered a goal for the JV.
Steven Beydler, Clay Tongate and Ashton Cantrell recorded an assist for Sikeston.
Sikeston will travel to Cape Girardeau to take on district foe Notre Dame Bulldogs today. Junior varsity game will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity action to follow immediately after.
