ZALMA - Georgia Ellen Cookemboo, 75, died Dec. 15, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Oct. 21, 1930, in East Prairie, daughter of the late Frank and Mamie Carroll Jackson, she was a retired teacher from Scott County Central School. She attended Zalma General Baptist Church, was a part-time postal worker at Zalma Post Office and active in Zalma civil affairs.

In 1948, in Arkansas, she married James Cookemboo, who preceded her in death April 29, 1987.

Two sons and three brothers also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son, Larry Cookemboo of Portageville; one daughter, Cathy Swift of Delta; two brothers, Bob Jackson of Bloomfield and Bill Jackson of Wappapello; two sisters, Doris Esparza of St. Louis and Sue Esparza of Bethalto, Ill.; and eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, with the Rev. Keith Price officiating.

Burial will follow in Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance.
