CHICAGO, Ill. - O.V. Peet Jr., 71, formerly of Sikeston, died Dec. 14, 2005, in Chicago.
Born Feb. 21, 1934, in Stanton, Tenn., he was the son of L.D. Newsome of Fort Worth, Texas and the late Walter Jack Newsome.
On April 12, 1952, he was united in marriage to Doris Betty Davis Harris, who survives of Haywood City.
Survivors include: six sons, Gary Peet, Danny Peet and Kem Peet, all of Elkhart, Ind., David Peet, Steve Peet and Greg Peet, all of Sikeston; five daughters, Norma Prangle of Chicago, Vera Moore of St. Louis, Lydia Peet and Cheryl Peet of Sikeston, and Pamilia Minter of Elkhart; three brothers, Ocie Peet Sr. of Rascine, Wis., Joe Peet Sr. of Tupelo, Miss. and Willie Newsome of Raymore; three sisters, Christine Marshall and Linda Tucker of Fort Worth, Texas and Lula Linson of Cincinnati, Ohio; a special friend, James Newsome of Fort Worth; 52 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Peet and one sister, Georgia B. Lott.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Williams Funeral Home in Sikeston, and from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 at Greer Chapel Church.
The Rev. Roy Bonner will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Kem Peet, Steve Peet, Eric Peet, Marvin Moore Jr., Derrick Porter and Steve Prangle.
