DEXTER - Ruth B. Evans, 90, died Oct. 8, 2007, at Cypress Point Health Care in Dexter
Born Sept. 14, 1917, in Essex, daughter of the late James and Dora Doris Peck, she lived in Essex her entire life. She was a retired self-employed beautician and a member of the Olive Branch General Baptist Church near Essex.
On Sept. 10, 1938, at Charleston, she married Hollon G. "Hob" Evans, who preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1988.
Also preceding her in death were: one son, Stan K. Evans; one daughter, Lavonda Evans; two brothers, Vernie Peck and Leonard Peck; and two sisters, Ollie West and Jenny Lemons.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Perry and Marlene Evans of Smithland, Ky.; one sister, Pansy Hutchcraft of Dexter; two grandchildren, Kevin Evans and J.P. Evans of Essex; five great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Eldon Stafford, of Essex.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Revs. W.H. Worth of Essex and Miles Meadows of Dudley will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
