SIKESTON - Plans for a membership drive for the Sikeston Country Club were perfected at the regular meeting of the Junior Chamber of Commerce at the Hotel Dunn.

ORAN - Jas. Stone, janitor of the high school, has moved back to his own property, and the Cooper family, who were living on the Stone property, have moved back into the place vacated by the Stones.

SIKESTON - In the feeling that servicemen in Vietnam should not be forgotten, the American Legion Auxiliary announced Operation Newspaper. In cooperation with the Department of Defense and the servicemen abroad, newspapers will be sent to the fighting areas. In Sikeston, Mrs. Fred Tope Jr. announced that Pfc. Thelmer Herbert will be receiving his copy of the Daily Standard.

JEFFERSON CITY - Lt. Gov. Harriett Woods has scheduled stops in Charleston, New Madrid, Dexter and Sikeston as part of her Local Economy Tour this month.

SIKESTON - A court order has appointed a receiver to guard the assets and operate a Sikeston company. ATEC Inc. of St. Louis now oversees the operation of Hedrick Concrete Products Corporation and Hedrick Concrete Trucking Corporation. The company is operated by Thomas Hedrick of Sikeston. According to information filed by Mark Twain Bank with the court, the motion for a receiver was requested after Hedrick failed to repay bank loans in December. The bank stated it has a security in the company's property to secure a debt in excess of $5 million.

SIKESTON - A structure fire broke out at the home of Gary Melrose, 720 Taylor, Monday night. Taylor had fallen asleep while smoking and the fire originated in the southwest corner bedroom. The fire left extensive damage to the house and also damaged a vehicle at the residence.
