Ferrell attends Sikeston High School which has a girls high school team. And Luehmann attends Charleston, which doesn't have girls soccer. She will guest play for a couple teams from Memphis.
Both girls began the long tryout journey back in August 2005. The announcement wasn't made until Jan. 16. This will be Ferrell's third year to make the state team, Luehmann's first.
They have been team members on various club teams in the past, but this is an elite team made up of the best players in the state of Missouri that were born in 1990.
One of their state teammates is also training with the under-16 National Team in California.
Justin McMullen, Southeast Missouri Soccer Club, and Paul Nelson, SEMO women's soccer coach, have coached the two for the past six years.
McMullen is now the assistant boys and girls soccer coach in Jackson. Both have also played for various St Louis club teams and Ferrell is currently rostered with the under-17 Woodchips Soccer Club from St Louis.
The ODP team is scheduled to play various other state teams until Feb. 26, the last day girls in Missouri can play for any club team because high school tryouts start Feb. 27.
