PADUCAH, Ky. - Charles Lavelle Lynxwiler, 66, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Jan. 31, 2006.
Born Nov. 18, 1939, in New Madrid County, Mo., son of the late Herbert S. and Mattie Auvine Lynxwiler, he attended Sikeston Public Schools, graduated in 1961 from Southeast Missouri State University and was a school teacher for the Cape Girardeau Public School system. In 1967, he worked in the grocery business, managing stores for Liberty Supermarkets in Cape Girardeau and Blytheville Ark., and Hyde-Fleming Wholesale Grocers in Sikeston, Henderson and Memphis, Tenn. From 1986 to 1993, he and his wife owned and operated grocery stores in Mayfield and Calvert City. He was then employed as a retail counselor for Winkler Wholesale Grocers of Dale, Ind. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a former member of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Grocers Association and Heartland Worship Center in Paducah.
His wife, Beverly Latham Lynxwiler, survives.
Other survivors include: one son, William Lynxwiler of Hopkinsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Barry Arnold of Bowling Green; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Tracy Lynxwiler of New Madrid, Mo.; and one grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Lynxwiler.
Visitation is at 4 p.m. today at Milner and Orr Funeral Home in Paducah, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday. The Revs. Johnny Sams and Mitch Jackson will officiate.
Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Cape Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
