WAPPAPELLO - J. T. Holder, 80, died Oct. 1, 2005, at his home.
Born May 23, 1925, in Kewanee, son of late George and Gladys Lancaster Holder, he was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Employed with McDonald Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis and the owner of Bird's Paint Shop and Hardware in Advance, he served as mayor of Advance in 1963 and was the executive director of DAEOC in Portageville. In May 1991, he retired as an auditor for the state of Missouri.
On Dec. 30, 1955, in Advance, he married Myra Geraldine Bird, who preceded him in death in January 1984.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Roland and Sharon Drum of Naples, Fla.; one brother, Franklin D. Holder of Rickledge, Fla.; two grandsons, Jason T. Drum of Hawaii and Justin Drum of Naples; and one aunt, Opal White of Sikeston.
Preceding him in death were three brothers: Bill, Spencer and Bobbie Holder.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance with the Rev. Eric Shrum officiating.
Burial followed in Morgan Memorial Park.
