DEXTER - Shirley McGhee, 73, died Jan. 2, 2006, at her home.
Born March 14, 1932, in Malden, daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian Opal Burchett Book, she had lived for the past 36 years in Dexter and worked for many years as a cashier at the Hickory House Restaurant. She had also worked as a CNA at the Vintage Villa Nursing Home in Dexter and was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dexter.
On Oct. 17, 1948, in Arkansas, she married Joe L. McGhee, who preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 2001.
One sister, Jean Black, and one grandson also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Mike McGhee of Edmond, Okla. and Ron McGhee of Dexter; one brother, A.J. Book of Clarksville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Shane Mallard of Dexter will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
