DEXTER - Ruben Ezra Adkins, 82, died Dec. 31, 2005, in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter.
Born Feb. 7, 1923, in Bernie, son of the late Ezra Adkins and Carrie Anthony Adkins, he was a member of the Bethany General Baptist Church at Campbell. A retired farmer, he was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp serving in World War II.
He was first united in marriage to Iva Doris Kiser on Dec. 31, 1947, in Piggot, Ark. She preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 1993. He then married Mary Parmer Williams on Aug. 17, 1997, in Bloomfield, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Brenda Lee Adkins James and Debbie Lou Adkins and Bobby Stone of Dexter; two step-
sons, John Williams of Bloomfield and Donnie Williams of Dexter; one step-
daughter, Brenda Sue Conner of Dexter; one brother, Larry Adkins of Flint, Texas; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Raybun Adkins, Rudolph Adkins, Donald Adkins and Gerald Adkins.
Services were conducted Monday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie. The Revs. Bryan Johnson and Kevin Eskew officiated.
Burial followed in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
