SIKESTON - The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs softball team ended their home schedule for the season with an 11-0 victory over the visiting Delta Bobcats on Thursday.

Senior pitcher Molly Brinkmeyer made her last pitching performance at home a memorable one as she shutout the Bobcats. Brinkmeyer pitched a complete game and gave up only three hits while striking out nine and walked only one Delta batter.

Sikeston scored two runs in the first and followed that up with four in the second and five in the third. The 10-run rule took effect and the game was called after the top of the fifth.

The Lady Bulldogs scored their two runs in the first as Brinkmeyer scored on a wild pitch and Allison Blurton drove in Paige Silverthorn on a fielders choice. Sikeston led after one inning 2-0.

After a three-and-out by the Bobcats in the top of the second, Elizabeth Heeb scored the first run in the bottom of the second on a wild pitch. Beth Ziegenhorn received an RBI on a bases loaded walk and Silverthorn drove in a run on a single. Sikeston scored the fourth and final run of the inning on an Blurton sacrifice fly.

In the third, Allison Friend doubled home two runs and Sikeston scored two runs on a throwing error by the pitcher for Delta and a wild pitch plated a run.

Delta pitchers were erratic all game long and Sikeston showed patience at the plate and induced 10 walks. Of the 10 walks, six came around and scored runs for the Lady Bulldogs.

On senior day, Sikeston coach Tiffany King had nothing but good things to say about her club and her seniors.

"We played extremely hard today," said King. "Without our seniors I don't know where we would be. Besides being great players they are all leaders and role models for our younger players. They are just wonderful individuals."

Brinkmeyer, Blurton, Silverthorn, Erin Wibbenmeyer and Ziegenhorn are players that Sikeston will miss next season but have had a tremendous career at Sikeston.

Friend had the lone extra base hit for Sikeston as Brinkmeyer, Silverthorn, Casey Williams and Emily Coffee all singled for the Lady Bulldogs. Delta had three hits on the day as Kaci Menz, Jodi Menz and Allison Burger singled for the Lady Bobcats.

Sikeston (11-11) returns to action on Monday as they will travel to Chaffee to take on the Lady Red Devils. Delta (5-11) will start district play next week with date and team to be determined.
