SIKESTON - The Sikeston Bulldogs won their first game in the Cape Girardeau College High Holiday Tournament last night by defeating the Dexter Bearcats 36-31.

SIKESTON - It was announced today that J.W. Hartzog, general manager of the Hart's Bakery in Sikeston, and L.S. Hartzog, owner, that no sale has taken place of the bakeries.


SIKESTON - Lynn Twitty, superintendent of schools, announced today that $161,000 had been allocated by the federal government on two projects for private and public school children. One of the projects will be a learning materials center. The second will allow the employment of teacher aides and health nurses.

SIKESTON - Carrie Hart and Ruth Stroud prepared the famous Lambert's Cafe rolls Wednesday to help feed the 250 people who enjoyed a Christmas Day meal at the restaurant. More than 100 people volunteered their time to the dinner at Lambert's gathering, which Norman Lambert said he hopes will become an annual event.


SIKESTON - Officers of the Sikeston Practical Nursing class donated a gift last week to Savings of America in Sikeston for the "Little Angel" program sponsored by Savings of America.

POPLAR BLUFF - Calling New Madrid County Central's 52-51 victory over Memphis-East Wednesday an upset doesn't seem to be enough. "This is the biggest win of my life," said Eagles coach Lennies McFerren, after his team beat the heavily-favored, undefeated Mustangs in the first round of the Poplar Bluff Showdown.


NEW MADRID - The Delta Queen steamboat will dock in New Madrid from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. The levee will be closed to traffic during that time between Main and Capitol streets to allow shuttle buses access to the levee and for pedestrian parking.
