SIKESTON - The City Council Monday night waived the city's park advertising policy for this year only to allow Christmas greeting cards in American Legion Park. This waiver applies only to Christmas greeting cards which have advertising by downtown businesses on them.
SIKESTON - Nancy and Jeffrey Schoch toured the inside of the paramedic rescue van at Kingsway Plaza Mall Saturday as part of Emergency Medical Services Week. Missouri Delta Community Hospital exhibited the equipment, offered free blood pressure tests and answered questions about emergency services at the booth.
NEW MADRID - A watch was under way early today for two men who attempted to rob a gas station at gun point. At 5:34 a.m. today the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department received a call from John Clubb, the attendant at Rick's Shell at Interstate 55 Kewanee exit. Clubb told officers two black males, one displaying a stainless steel semi-automatic handgun, had attempted to rob the business. Both men were wearing camouflage masks. There was no description of the suspect's vehicle.
