Heated competition in Stock Light spices up SEMO Raceway

Tuesday, September 20, 2005

Derrick Rucker of Paducah took his fifth feature win.
BLODGETT -- Karting contenders ventured out to SEMO Raceway, Saturday night in hopes to earn some extra points towards the season's class championships.

Saturday's racing was for double points, so tensions were high and the racing was extreme.

With rain during the week prior and cooler weather, racers found themselves scrambling to chase the setup for the heavy track condition. Thus this brought forth some first time winners for the season and some amazing racing.

Featured class this week is our Stock Light class that brought out some of the most heated competition we have seen where you saw swapping the lead between awesome drivers.

Started out on poll for the feature event was Billy Vandergriff in the #77 kart with Joe Warren in the #67 on the outside who took the lead on the start and held it for 7 laps.

On the eighth lap in turn 1 with karts running nose to tale and at time 3 wide Mark Strang in the #3 takes the lead only for it to be taken back by Vandergriff making his moves in the turns with Derrick Rucker knocking on this back door waiting for his chance to make his move for a taste of the lead.

Rucker & Vandergriff swap leads every lap to the end of the last white flag lap, Rucker makes his move on the entry of turn two and holds the lead to the victorious checkered flag finish with Joe Warren and Mark Strang finishing 2nd & 3rd.

SEMO Raceway will be back in action with their last points race of the 2005 season Saturday, Oct. 1, for double points so come on out and watch some great racing action.
