SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Sidwell have returned to Sikeston after living for four years in Chicago.


SIKESTON - At the Rex Theater today: "Above Suspicion" with Fred MacMurray and Joan Crawford and "I'll Remember April" with Gloria Jean and Kirby Grant.

SIKESTON - A young bobcat weighing 20 pounds was killed by humane officer Bill Haynes Thursday as it came out of a wooded area at Murray Lane and South Kingshighway. The animal was believed to have been about six years old.


BELL CITY - Voters in Bell City, by more than a 6-to-1 margin, approved two sewer bond issues totaling $95,000. A portion will be matched by federal funds. Obligation bonds in the amount of $22,000 for partial payment on construction of the system received a 135 to 21 vote.

CHARLESTON - Major items on Tuesday evening's City Council agenda included a proposed jail agreement with the county commission, a Community Development Block Grant Application and East Commercial Street improvements. The County Commission notified the city about a month ago that they did not want to renew the current contract for the housing of city prisoners in the county jail under the same terms. A new proposal was worked out following a meeting of city representatives with the commission.

Dec. 13, 1995

SIKESTON - Missouri Delta Medical Center was presented $35,000 in proceeds from this year's MDMC Benefit Ball. The ball had the theme "Camelot."


SIKESTON - The First National Bank made a donation to the Sikeston United Way Campaign Tuesday morning. Troy Wilson presented chairman Mike Jensen with a check . Currently the United Way has achieved 80 percent of its goal for the 1995-96 campaign.
