Each year, DAEOC helps families who meet certain guidelines pay their winter heating bills under LIHEAP, or low income energy assistance programs. There are two programs, both which are based on the household income, how many people live there and what type of fuel is used.
One, the energy crisis intervention program, requires a disconnect notice and various amounts are approved to resolve the current crisis. The other program - energy assistance - does not require the disconnect notice. Families who meet the other guidelines are approved for set amounts, based on those factors.
