HAYTI - The Risco Tigers boys basketball team lost a tough road game on Tuesday night to the Hayti Indians 47-41.
Risco went the final four minutes of the contest without a point, and the Indians took advantage to outscore the Tigers by nine in the fourth quarter to win the game.
"Despite the loss, this was one of the best games we have played all season," said Risco head coach Brandon Blankenship. "We executed the game plan well for three quarters. But we shot ourselves in the foot in the final quarter and let one slip away."
Risco held a 23-19 lead heading into halftime. After three quarters, the Tigers still had an 33-30 advantage heading into the final quarter when things went south for the Tigers.
Andrew Halford led Risco with 20 points. No other Tiger player scored in double-digits.
William Cooper led Hayti with 11 points. Stanrique Matlock chipped in with 10 points for the Indians.
"Would have been a big road victory for us tonight," said Blankenship. "But we have to keep our heads up and come out with renewed intensity on Saturday."
