Bowling opened Sparkle, a small boutique at 105 Campanella in Sikeston, on Feb. 1. Here she offers men's and women's fashion apparel and accessories.
While the business is new, the owner explained she has worked in a similar business and when the opportunity came to create her boutique, "this just seemed natural. I'm really enjoying it."
The shop's walls and counters are filled. Customers can select clothing from the Minor Celebrity or the Nao lines. Also available are sandals, belts by Enmon and Neves and handbags from the maker, She and Josh. Already a favorite is Escada's Magnetism perfume.
The business owner takes particular pride in the variety of jewelry found at Sparkle, from necklaces to bracelets to earrings and rings. Bowling even offers to create custom bling cell phones for customers.
Another point of pride for Bowling is the prices. She explained she works to keep her prices low so the latest in fashion can be easily affordable.
And, her customers appreciate it, she said. They also appreciate her honesty.
"I want my customers to look good," she explained. "If they try something on and it isn't the right style or color, I will tell them. I am working with and for the customers to see they can achieve the look they want."
Which takes her back to her motto: Everyone cannot be a star, but everyone can sparkle.
According to Bowling, new things are arriving weekly. For those who can't find just the right item, she said, she will make every effort to find it, whether it is a designer look or something similar.
Although only opened three months, Bowling is already making plans to expand. She is working to add shoes and the line of !It jeans later this spring.
Sparkle boutique offers gift wrapping and each week a drawing is conducted for a gift certificate.
Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday with the store opening at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. The business' Web site, which includes a 10 percent off coupon, is www.vivasparkleboutique.com.
