CHARLESTON - Mary Margaret Smith, 88, died Dec. 27, 2005, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, as a result of injuries in a pedestrian accident.
Born April 11, 1917, in Charleston, daughter of the late Jessie and Lillie Mae Fulks Owens, she was a member of Perry Chapel AME Church, where she served as an usher.
On Oct. 26, 1940, she married Robert Smith, who preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1999.
One son, Robert Smith Jr. also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Erma Bates of Chicago and Michael and Joyce Smith of Kansas City; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty Lyes and Kathryn and Coddy Adams of Kansas City and Leora and William Webster of Detroit, Mich.; and 22 grandchildren, 33 great-
grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time for services at noon at the Perry Chapel AME. The Revs. Kevin Jacques and Debbie Thornton will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, near Charleston.
