Your view: Taser thanks

Wednesday, December 7, 2005

Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell and the staff at the Justice Center would like to say thank you to the following businesses and citizens that donated funds for the purchase of two tasers. They are non-lethal weapons to be used in self-defense, and to control uncooperative inmates or arrestees.

The new tasers will be utilized in the jail; all Corrections personnel will be trained and certified in their use.

I believe the introduction of this new tool to control uncontrollable persons will result in a safer environment for our staff and the inmates we must protect.

Our thanks go out to: First Security State Bank, Caruthersville, Pemiscot County Rescue Squad, Pemiscot County American Legion, Wal-Mart of Caruthersville, Woody Brandon Trucking, Portageville, Hayti Auto and Tractor Parts, Hayti, Hayti Pawn Shop and Citizens Gin of Wardell.
