SIKESTON -- New "report cards" about every public school and school district in the state and about the Missouri's public education system are now available on the Internet, state education officials announced today.
"Parents are encouraged to access this site. By doing so, they will learn a great deal about their child's school," said Dr. Marisa Bowen, assistant superintendent of curriculum/middle grades at Sikeston R-6.
The school report card includes: demographic data, student staff ratios, faculty information, attendance, Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) data, ACT data, accreditation status, graduation/dropout rates, etc.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is responsible for producing a "school accountability report card" on their Web site for each public school district. The school report card provides extensive educational statistics about Missouri's public schools.
This information is intended to assist schools with school improvement planning and meeting the state's accreditation requirements.
"The online profiles will provide the information that parents and taxpayers need to know about their schools, while saving local school districts a great deal of time and money," said Commissioner of Education D. Kent King.
Report cards are available at www.dese.mo.gov/schooldata.
