SIKESTON - Russell Turner, 84, died Oct. 16, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born March 26, 1921, in Essex, son of the late James and Ruth (McMullin) Turner, he was a member of the Cairo Baptist Church in Cairo, Ill. and a veteran of United States Air Force, having served during World War II. He was an aircraft inspector and licensed charter pilot. From 1948 to 1961 he managed the Sikeston Airport, and from 1961 to 1987, he managed the Cairo Airport. From 1987 until retirement in 1998, he managed New Madrid County Airport.
On Dec. 9, 1955, he married Nadene Daniel Turner, who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Mike Turner of Mounds, Ill.; one daughter, Carole Mackins of Kansas City; and two grandchildren, Jeremy Turner and Tia Mackins, both of Kansas City.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Turner; and one granddaughter, Jessy Turner.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Phyllis Traughber, pastor of Water of Life in Lilbourn, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
