ESSEX - Rev. George Hill, 87, died Jan. 10, 2006, at the Missouri Southern Healthcare facility in Dexter.
Born Jan. 17, 1918, in Matthews, son of the late James R. and Pearl Mae Hunott Hill, he had lived in the Matthews and Sikeston area until 1940 when he moved to Essex. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and was the pastor for approximately 40 years at the Assembly of God Church in Essex.
On March 13, 1937, he married Geneva "Neet" Tetley in Sikeston, who preceded him in death on May 20, 1999. On Aug. 20, 1999, he married Wanda Hayes Sides, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Charlotte Merideth and Georgia Ann Horton of Essex and Connie Thompson of Sikeston; one stepdaughter, Sharon Dial of Demopolis, Ala.; two stepsons, Garry Sides of Essex and Dean Sides of Newport, Ark.; and six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren one great-
great-grandchild seven stepgrandchildren and four great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: two brothers, Robert Hill and Richard Hill; three sisters, Aura Harper, Louise Schaeffer and Alfreda Shultz and one stepdaughter, Pam Sides.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter, where a Celebration of Life services is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday. The Revs. Larie Burdine and Mike Brown, both of Essex, and the Rev. David Looney of Sikeston will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery in Essex.
Pallbearers will be: David Lankford, Barry Horton, Donnie Foster, John Sayre, Jim Hartman and Tony Legge.
