HOLLAND, Mo. - An early morning fire is suspected to be arson.
Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell said sheriff department investigators and officials from the Missouri State Fire Marshal's office are investigating a fire reported at 3:44 a.m. today at a residence at 1039 State Highway F, just west of Holland. The fire was reported by a passerby.
After the fire was extinguished by the Steele Fire Department, deputies discovered an apparent burglary with several guns missing along with an undetermined amount of change.
Further investigation revealed the fire started in a bedroom. At this point in the investigation the fire has been ruled incendiary, according to a news release issued by the sheriff's department.
The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 573-333-4101 or the Missouri State Fire Marshal's office arson hotline at 1-800-39-ARSON. All information will be kept confidential, officials said.
