City workers honored for 2005 efforts

City Treasurer Karen Bailey receives the Administrative/Supervisory Employee of the Year.

City Treasurer Karen Bailey was recently honored as the City's 2005 Administrative/Supervisory Employee of the Year. Recognized with Mrs. Bailey was nominee John Martin, acting captain, Sikeston Department of Public Safety. Making the presentation is City Council member Sue Rogers, right.

Captain Joe Sebourn, a 35-year veteran of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, was recognized during the 2005 Employee Awards Dinner for his many contributions to the City. Making the presentation were City Manager Doug Friend and Mayor Mike Marshall.

Field Training Officer Marshall Russom was honored during the City's Employee Awards Dinner as the 2005 DPS Employee of the Year. Making the presentation is City Council Member David Teachout. Department of Public Safety Officers Sgt. Andrew Cooper, left, and PSO Scott Taylor were presented the Medal of Valor. In April 2005, both officers responded to a call of an individual trapped under a car. Due to the condition of the victim, officers determined they could not wait for extrication equipment to arrive. Taylor lifted the front-end of a car weighing approximately 3,500 pounds, allowing Cooper to pull the victim to safety. Officers provided life-saving measures until the arrival of the Med-

Evac helicopter and the victim's subsequent transportation to the hospital. During presentation remarks, Public Safety Director Drew Juden stated, "These actions are indicative of the level of service and professionalism both officers bring to work each day and every day."

Jeff Archie of the Sikeston Public Works Department, Street Division was recently named the 2005 Public Works Employee of the Year. Making the presentation is City Council Member Bill Stokes. Nominees for this award (not pictured) were Code Enforcement Officer Tom Burns, Ricky Skelton of the Park Division and Glenn Hoskins of the Street Division.

Marie Walton, account clerk with the City Collector's Office, was recently recognized for her outstanding service to the City Honored with her were nominees Lois Cokenour and Amanda Groves, (not pictured).
