ST. LOUIS -- James L. Grant, 51, died Oct. 7, 2005, at his home.

Born June 21, 1954, in Sikeston, son of Hattie McCullough Grant of Sikeston and the late Johnnie Grant, he had attended Scott County Central High and was of the Baptist belief. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, receiving an honorable discharge.

In addition to his mother, survivors include: eight sisters and five brothers-

in-law, Rosie and Thomas Gatlin, Mary Maybell, Gloria and Willie Simms, Violet Grant and Kimberley and Robert Graham of St. Louis, Odia and Johnny Silver of Raleigh, N.C., Janet Kay and Archie Herron of Sikeston and Melvanie Grant of Los Angeles; and eight brothers and three sisters-in-law, Johnny and Linda Grant Jr. of Kankakee, Ill., Willie Ross, Robert and Mary Ross, Bonny Grant, Herman Grant and Calvin Grant of Sikeston, Timothy and Karen Grant of Okinawa, Japan, and Gregory Grant of Jackson, Miss.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at the Cornerstone Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Nabors, pastor, officiating.

Cremains will be placed in a niche at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
