POPLAR BLUFF - James Edward Garrett, 85, died at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 9, 2006, in the Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital North Campus.
Born Aug. 25, 1920, at Kennett, to the late Virgil Garrett and Ruth Alstell Garrett Pearson, he was a retired security guard and a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II.
Survivors include: six sons, Jimmy Garrett of Branson, Gene Garrett and Gilbert Garrett of St. Louis, Jackie Garrett of AlCygen, Kan., Bobby Garrett of Hillsboro and John Garrett of Naylor; two daughters, Mary Ann Walter of Houston and Beverly Pickard of Poplar Bluff; one stepson, Gary Carl of Belton; one stepdaughter, Brenda Armour of Grandview; one sister, Maxine Mitchell of Arnold; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-
In addition to his parents, one daughter, Shirley Paterson and one brother, Jr. Garrett, also preceded him in death.
Visitation is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Graveside services, with Full Military rites conducted by the Missouri Funeral Honors Program, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
