Your view: Elvis honor

Dear Editor,

"Shelby Dee" Daniel, Elvis tribute artist from Newbern, Tenn., has been choses as one of the 12 finalists out of 72 contestants to compete in an Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist contest at the Williamson County Fair in Franklin, Tenn., just south of Nashville, on August 4th.

In being chosen as a finalist, "Shelby Dee" will have the honor of singing with the world famous, "Jordanaires," backup singers for Elvis for many years, and the Dan Letino band.

Winner of this contest will be of 23 contest winners to compete at Graceland Aug. 11-17, during Elvis week, to be named Elvis Tribute Artist of the Year. On June 2, Shelby won second place in an Ultimate Elvis contest in Marion, Kan. and was also a finalist at Branson, Arnold and Longview, Texas.

Shelby loves to sing for benefits, he sings every two months at the Caruthersville Nursing Center to entertain the residents. He also had a benefit June 30 at the Caruthersville Armory to raise fund for a bird aviary for CNC. He will be having a concert at Pemiscot Memorial Healthy Systems, Long Term Care, August 23rd from 7-9 p.m. to entertain their residents.

The Caruthersville Nursing Center would like to thank Shelby for all that he has done for the Center and congratulate him for being selected as a finalist at Franklin, Tenn. in fulfilling his lifelong dream of singing with the Jordanaires.

Also, all his fans from Southeast Missouri, West Tennessee, Northeast Arkansas and West Kentucky would like to congratulate Shelby, and wish him the best luck in the world in his endeavors to make it to Graceland. Shelby is dedicated to keep Elvis's music alive, and is an "Ultimate" entertainer with his beautiful voice and jumpsuits.

Shelby is a great humanitarian, as was Elvis. He has some beautiful gospel songs and would love to sing for your church, or help raise money for a good cause for churches, schools and other organizations.
