EAST PRAIRIE - Mary Elizabeth Jones, 69, died Sept. 23, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Sept. 14, 1936, in Dorena, daughter of the late George and Hattie Wilson Simpkins, she had lived in Missouri all her life and was a member of Union Baptist Church of Pinhook.
On Dec. 17, 1955, she married Roosevelt Jones who preceded her in death in 1969.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Janet Jones of Atlanta, Ga., and Georgia and Gregory Jones of Jackson, Tenn.; six daughters and three sons-in-law; Norma and Robbie Tipler of East Prairie, Marilyn and Clifford Nathaniel of Jackson, Rose Mary Jones of Marion, Ill., Lawanda Jones of Jackson, Latosha and Wartez Yates of Kevil, Ky., and Felitha Jones of Forrest Park, Ill.; four brothers, David Simpkins and Charlie Simpkins of East Prairie, Larry Simpkins of Charleston and Thomas Simpkins of Hesperia, Calif.; two sisters, Clarise Simpkins of East Prairie and Camille Patterson of Charleston; and many grandchildren including Tony Jones, a grandchild who lived with her, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Williams Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Union Baptist Church in Pinhook with the Rev. Melvin Williams officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
