Kennett aces Sikeston

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston girls tennis team found the going tough against the visiting Kennett Lady Indians Thursday afternoon, losing 7-2.

Sikeston's Jenni DeWitt kept her undefeated singles season going with an 8-1 victory over Kennett's Brook Burcham. Sikeston's only other win on the day came in doubles play when the team of DeWitt and Campbell Moore beat Kennett's team of Burcham and Susan Shetley 8-0.

"Jenni had a good match and Campbell and Jenni had a good doubles match also," said Sikeston coach Lynne DeWitt.

Sikeston will be in action again on Monday when they host Charleston at 4 p.m.

FARMINGTON -- The Charleston Lady Bluejays continued their winning ways on Thursday traveling to Farmington and beating the Lady Knights 7-2.

"It was a nice win to finish a long week," said Charleston coach Seth Benton. "The girls played four matches in a row this week with the final three on the road."
