NEW MADRID - New Madrid County superintendents of schools have requested the county's eight school districts be reorganized into one unit. This recommendation was made in a letter to the county board after several months deliberation. The superintendents recommended that a reorganization proposal be submitted to the state board of education for approval so that it can be put before the voters.
BENTON - A Benton Route One teenager charged with a felony of stealing and driving while intoxicated following an incident early Sunday, according to Scott County Sheriff Bill Ferrell. In custody under $3,000 bond, the suspect and another 17-year-old from Kelso were released and two juveniles have been cited into juvenile court in connection with the incident.
