DEXTER -- Pauline Dowdy, 92, died Jan. 24, 2006, at Missouri Southern Healthcare.
Born Dec. 20, 1913, near Dexter, daughter of the late Bertis Monroe and Mable Jennings Lawrence, she was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ and a former member of the Bridge Church of Christ near Dexter. A former licensed practical nurse for the Dexter Memorial Hospital, she was also a member of the Dexter Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Golden Age Quilters and a former 4-H leader. She volunteered for the Reach to Recovery Breast Cancer Survivors Organization, the American Red Cross, American Heart Association and American Cancer Society.
On May 9, 1933, at Bloomfield, she married Danzil Dowdy, who preceded her in death on April 13, 1982.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Darrol Dowdy and Norval Lawrence Dowdy; and two brothers, Carl Lawrence and Clyde Lawrence. Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Linda Dowdy of Dexter and Larry and Margaret Dowdy of Cape Girardeau; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bernie and Janice Dowdy Crum of Columbia, Paul and Roberta Dowdy Sanders of Columbia and Gloria Lynn Dowdy of Kansas City; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Dowdy of Dexter; and 11 grandchildren, 19 great-
grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday. Don Bahr will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery near Dexter.
