SIKESTON -- A Sikeston man's home, work vehicle and personal vehicle were damaged after being struck by an out-of-control vehicle Saturday night.
According to witnesses and the Department of Public Safety incident report, the accident occurred at approximately 10:43 p.m. on North Ingram just south of the Sikeston Sports Complex when a southbound vehicle driven by Jeffery L. Hull, 22, left the roadway and struck both the duplex on the east side of North Ingram and work van parked in the driveway, coming to stop with the front end of the vehicle inside a child's bedroom.
Residents in the area reported feeling their homes shake upon the impact.
The van was struck hard enough to hit the resident's personal vehicle which was parked adjacent to the van. PSO Shirley Porter of the DPS said the damaged residence is the home of her son and that her grandson's bed was struck by the vehicle. The child was not at home during the accident.
Dr. Stephen Welton, who lives across the street, reported seeing what appeared to be smoke coming from the vehicle and pulling the unconscious driver from the vehicle.
The passenger, identified as Joshua A. Penick, 23, in the DPS incident report, was reportedly able to leave the vehicle unassisted.
The driver was taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center for injuries sustained in the accident.
