NEW MADRID -- Samuel "Bo" Hunt, 71, died Jan. 31, 2006, at his home.
Born March 29, 1934, in Sikeston, son of the late George and Leatter Reed Hunt, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of VFW Post No. 7183 in Lilbourn where he was also the chaplain. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in New Madrid and a member of the New Madrid Chamber of Commerce.
On April 8, 1957, in New Madrid, he married Geneva L. White Hunt who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife include; seven sons, Lemuel Hunt of Augusta, Ga., Mark Hunt of Sikeston, Samuel Hunt Jr. of St. Louis, David L. Hunt Sr. of New Madrid, Anthony James Hunt of Jacksonville, Fla., George U. Hunt, Sr. of Jacksonville and Maurice N. Hunt of New Madrid; four daughters, Demetrius Pledger of Kansas City, Mo., Manasseh L. Hunt of New Madrid, Mavis A. Mason of Jacksonville and Jennifer L. Hunt of St. Louis; one sister, Delores Thornton of Chicago; one brother, Narvell Hunt of Lorainne, Ohio; and 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Lawrence Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at Sandhill Cemetery in New Madrid.
