LILBOURN -- Dorothy Faye Sherrill Welshans, 88, died Dec. 6, 2005, at her home.
Born Nov. 26, 1917, in Marble Creek, daughter of the late Harry G. and Emily Ketcherside Boswell, for 45 years she was a member of the Church of God in Lilbourn where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Sunday School superintendent. She also had served as president of the Women's Church of God and president of the Civic Improvement Club in Lilbourn. She had been employed from 1944 to 1973 by the U.S. Postal Service at Lilbourn, serving as Postmaster from Nov. 27, 1970, until her retirement Dec. 4, 1973.
On June 18, 1936, she married William Sherrill who preceded her in death March 30, 1973.
On June 1, 1975, she married Walter Russell Welshans Jr. who preceded her in death April 15, 2004.
One brother, Joseph Boswell, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son, William Howard Sherrill of St. Charles; three grandchildren and one grandson-in-law, Mary and Bradley H. Sherrill of St. Charles, Michelle Watters of Lakeland, Colo., and Chad Watters of Webster Groves; and one great-granddaughter, Sara Sherrill of St. Charles.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home in Lilbourn. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of God in Lilbourn with the Rev. Michael Dean Chambliss, a Church of God minister from Florida, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery at Lilbourn.
