SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Harold LaFoot of Sikeston are the parents of a son born at the Sikeston Hospital on Sept. 15.

BLOOMFIELD - In an effort to bolster employment figures and pump millions of dollars into the local economy, the Stoddard County Court wants to make a bid for Missouri's newest prison. The state's master correctional plan includes construction of two prison facilities, one in western Missouri and an open site. The new facilities would help reduce overcrowded conditions in the state penitentiary, according to the plan.
SIKESTON - Sikeston High's soccer team hosted Jackson Tuesday, falling 6-3 to the visiting Indians. Sikeston coach Marc Stevener felt his team played well, but simply fell short in the final minutes.
MALDEN - Charleston High's girls tennis team recorded their 25th win in a row Tuesday, defeating the Malden Lady Green Wave 9-0. The Lady Blue Jays, who haven't lost a regular season match since their second of last season, gave up only 8 games in the victory.
SIKESTON - The Cotton Club Telephone Pioneers of America are sponsoring a golf tournament to raise funds for a hearing sound booth for the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center in Sikeston.
SIKESTON- The sports medicine staff at Missouri Delta Medical Center's Restart Facility, in conjunction with Ferguson Medical Group, is sponsoring a sports medicine clinic this fall. All athletes must have parental permission to see a physician.
