SIKESTON - A site in the Crowe Addition opposite of the John Reiss farm has been selected as the preferred location for the memorial baseball project which Sikeston baseball men hope to build there soon.

SIKESTON - Last night high winds and funnel clouds caused heavy damage in numerous communities in Southeast Missouri. Funnel clouds are reported to have dipped down in several places to rip up high line poles and trees, blocking roads and blowing cotton wagons from their sheds.

SIKESTON - The Industrial Development Authority, meeting jointly Monday evening with the City Council, approved the final resolution authorizing the issuance of $925,000 in Industrial Development Revenue Bonds for the East Prairie Nursing Center Inc. project.

SIKESTON - Rehearsals are under way for the next Sikeston Little Theatre production "Godspell." It will be presented at the Chaney-Harris Cultural Center Jan 9-12. The play is under the direction of Steve Beydler, who portrays the character of Judas Iscariot.

SIKESTON - Missouri Highway Patrol reported 14 people killed in automobile related accidents during the five day holiday weekend. "Last year there were six people killed on Missouri roads. I believe the extremely high traffic was due to the nice traveling weather we experienced," said Lt. Jim McNiell, Sikeston satellite commander. There were three fatalities reported over the weekend in the satellite office's patrol area.
