Barber pitches another complete game for Bluejays'
CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee Red Devils had no problem putting runs on the board Monday night, connecting on 11 hits against the Kelly Hawks for a 13-5 win.
Five Red Devils had multiple hits with Aaron Horrell leading the way with a 2-
2, six RBI performance on the day which included one double. Andy Hendrix hit two doubles and drove in three runs, while Josh Degar and Adam Horton both went 2-4 and drove in two runs, respectively. Hunter Thomasson went 2-3.
"I was pretty pleased with the way we swung the bats today," Chaffee head coach Brian Horrell said. "Offensively, we were good but, we need to pick it up defensively."
The Red Devils committed three errors on the field which accounted for all five of the Hawks runs.
Ethan Lee managed the only hit for Kelly against the winning pitcher Andrew Dooley. Dooley went five innings with seven strikeouts and allowed three runs but none were earned.
Bryce Faulkner got the loss allowing five earned runs on two hits and six walks in 1 2-3 innings pitched. Faulkner also recorded two strikeouts.
Chaffee will resume play on Thursday at Poplar Bluff while the Kelly Hawks will play tonight against Poplar Bluff at home.

CARUTHERSVILLE -- In their first two games on the young season the Charleston Bluejays have had only one pitcher on the mound who has thrown every pitch. On Monday night, another complete game by Jamie Barber lifted the Bluejays over Caruthersville, 7-4.
"It was another great pitching performance from Jamie again," Charleston head coach Michael Minner said. "He has thrown all our innings for us and has two complete games on 152 pitches. It was just another great game by him."
After five innings of work, Barber had only thrown 49 pitches. He allowed seven hits and four runs which were not earned throughout the seven innings. He also struck out four batters and walked two.
Matt Medlock had two doubles and drove in two runs for the Bluejays. Chase McClendon hit one double and had two RBI's, while Eric Rowling had two hits and two RBI's as well.
"We are hitting just enough to be successful," Minner said. "We are excited to be where we're at with two wins and no losses."

SCOTT CITY -- Scott City scored 13 runs in the fourth inning as it blanked New Madrid County Central on one hit during a five-inning home romp.
Skylar Cobb had two doubles and four RBIs, Ryan Modglin added two hits and two RBIs, and Clayton Hall had three RBIs.
Scott City (2-0) had eight hits and received 14 walks from NMCC pitchers.
Winning hurler Shae Simmons struck out seven and walked two in four hitless innings. Cobb pitched one inning of one-hit relief.

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Dexter's Chance Holden was the medalist at Monday's Notre Dame Invitational played at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson, finishing with a 4-over-par 76.
Poplar Bluff defended its team title with a score of 338.
