SIKESTON - A new church building of the Savannah Missionary Baptist Church will be opened April 4. The new church is located on a gravel road three miles east of Blodgett.


SIKESTON - Today the Malone Theater will present "Woman on the Beach" with Joan Bennett and Robert Ryan.

SIKESTON - Robert McCord announced his candidacy today for election to the Sikeston R-6 School Board of Education in Tuesday's election.


SIKESTON - Robert Mitchell was re-elected as president of the Southeast Missouri Association of School Boards in a brief business meeting Thursday night of the group at Sikeston High School.

NEW MADRID - Carol St. Mary fitted Paul Lathum with a soldier's uniform which he will wear during the enactment of Christ's last days. The Easter pageant will be conducted at sunrise Easter morning on the banks of the Mississippi River in New Madrid.

SIKESTON - Duane Highley, plant manager of Associated Electric Power Plant in New Madrid; Jan Felker, a former Sikeston Public Schools teacher; and David Matthews, a Sikeston businessman, are each hoping to be elected to fill two positions on the Sikeston School Board. The positions of Dan Lape and Glen Pinkerton will expire this spring.


SIKESTON - The Sikeston Jaycees announced today the lineup of musical entertainment for the 46th Annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo. The stars will be Clint Black, Charlie Daniels, the band Richochet and David Lee Murphy.


LILBOURN - Mary Lee of Lilbourn VFW Post 7183 presented Beresa Barnett, a representative of the soup kitchen, with a $300 donation.
