RIDGELAND, Miss. -- Donald Prather Dick, 71, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died Dec. 10, 2005, at Hospice Ministries.
Born July 16, 1934, in Dorena, Mo., son of the late J.W. and Corine Dill Dick, before moving to Ridgeland recently he was a lifelong resident of East Prairie, graduating from East Prairie High School in 1951. He attended Murray State University in Murray, Ky., on a football scholarship and served two years in the U.S. Army. A retired farmer, he was active in local civic organizations. He was a founding member and former president of the East Prairie Jaycees, an organizer for the American Farmers Organization, and served nine years on the East Prairie School Board and two years on the East Prairie City Council.
On June 2, 1956, he married Dollie Bills, who survive of the home.
Other survivors include: three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna Dick and Dennis Quertermous Jr., Dianna Dick Sessums, and Denise Dick and Steve Higginbotham of Madison; and one sister and brother-in-law, Judith Dick and Cecil Hammontree of East Prairie.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Graveside services will follow at Dogwood Cemetery.
