SIKESTON -- Kenneth Dean "Kenny" Darter, 59, died at 8:15 a.m. Nov. 29, 2005 at his home following an extended illness.
Born Oct. 30, 1946, in Matthews, son of the late Grady Norman and Mary Paralee Bratton Darter, he was a 1964 graduate of Matthews High School and served in the Missouri National Guard 1140th Engineer Battalion for seven years. He was a procurement agent and supervisor with the Missouri Department of Transportation for 29 years until his retirement in 1998.
Survivors include: two brothers, Jerry Darter of Imperial and Norman Darter of Dexter; and one sister, Vanetta Sindle of Sikeston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Ergle and Lorene Powell.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Chad Bles, pastor of Miner Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be his nephews: Gordan Powell, Lester Powell, Tyler Powell, Blake Sindle, Justin Sindle and Derreck Darter.
