Kewanee man dies in crash

KEWANEE -- A Kewanee man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, the accident happened at about 3:55 p.m. on New Madrid County Route W, 6.5 miles west of Kewanee when the westbound vehicle driven by Lonnie Jones, 56, ran off the roadway and overturned.

Jones was pronounced dead at 4:35 p.m. by New Madrid County Coroner Jimmy McSpadden.

The holiday traffic fatality totals for Missouri were not available at press time.
