The following are the top essay contest winners:

Third grade

FIRST PLACE

"How Education Creates a Stronger America" by Natalie Regenold

Education creates a stronger America because that is how people get their jobs. There would be no cops, firefighters, or doctors without education. There would be no army. Our president would not take good care of our country without education. Without education people wouldn't be able to help other people. You can't drive without an education. Education can create a stronger America because you will be smarter and less bad things will happen. When you have an education you feel good about yourself. When you feel good about yourself you do good things. Education creates a strong America because with education you are happy. I say that a happy America is a strong America.

SECOND PLACE

Did you know education helps America be stronger? Education can help you become a better person. It can help you become a better driver, teacher or anything that involves reading or writing. Wow! Education can help our bodies and minds. One way it can help our minds is that if we grow and get a job we will need knowledge to get a diploma. One way it can help our bodies is because if you are a football player you are going to need to read the play book and franchise to be a good player. Education can help you take care of yourself and other people. Education can make America stronger.

THIRD PLACE

Education creates a stronger America. Education helps kids get good jobs in the future. Educated people can help others have education also. Taking care of yourself and your family is something that education teaches you. From education children can get jobs that help our community. If we didn't have education we wouldn't have a good America.

Fourth grade FIRST PLACE

I feel that our education begins with our great public schools. The next generation of little Americans that are currently in strong schools is the future. People, such as children from this generation, look up to community leaders, government officials, teachers, parents, and neighbors for guidance. When we have strong public schools it leads to more people going to college. Strong schools now lead to new technology and more intelligent doctors which means a stronger country for us to live in. Stronger schools lead to a better quality of life which leads our country to a more caring environment. This is what I like about the great public schools.

SECOND PLACE

Education is important to our community. If we didn't have our education we wouldn't make money. No one would be smart enough to run our government. We would have terrorist's attacks all over the USA. Our country is strong and proud because of education. Lots of people today don't believe education is important. They say we will never use it in life. But, they are wrong. If no one had education we would be living in the streets. Education should be important to everyone in the world. I know education is really important to me. Education is a privilege. In most countries if you are not smart enough they will kick you out. If you play around in class they'll make you leave. We are the luckiest country in the world. Education matters to me. I think the world needs to be like our country. Our country cares for everyone's education even if you are dumb and smart. Education is our past, present and future. We depend on it. We depend on it and the world to help us survive and the only way you can survive is by education. Education Week is the Best!

THIRD PLACE

Education is important to having a stronger America because if we don't have a good education there would be a lot of people without a home. When we pay our taxes the money that we pay goes for other uses. One other use is to help people pay for a home that the government lets people stay in for free.

IF you don't have don't have a good education you won't get a very good job. If you don't have a job you do not have any money. If you want to have a good job you will probably need to go to college to get that college degree. If your family doesn't have enough money to send you to college you can have a college scholarship which pays for some of your college. To have a college scholarship you have to be a straight "A" student in High School. You also need to know Math. You need to know how to balance a checkbook. If you want a certain job, I say, "Go for it." You'll have to get an education. You know what? I had to have an education to write this essay. I had to have an education to know how to write. This is why I think an education is important.
